Shipley Park & H. Woodhouse - Amina Burslem aminaburslem@hotmail.co.uk
It was wonderful to be asked by our local Labour Party to represent the beautiful ward of Horsley, Horsley Woodhouse and Shipley.
We have lived locally since the early 80’s and so we know the area well. I was a teacher at Frederick Gent School for ten years and Bennerley School for six years. I taught Science and Humanities. I think some of my first students must be in their forties by now! My husband and I decided to teach abroad when our three children had flown the nest and have worked in Turkey, Sudan and China. This has been such a great experience, but we have never lost touch with our home here in Amber Valley. I am happy to be back, especially as we now have three very cute grandchildren. Now that I have finished renovating our houses, I am supply teaching and volunteering with the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. I enjoy gardening, walking and cycling, and can’t wait to get back to going out to more cultural activities. |
