DERBYSHIRE FIRE & RESCUE CONSULTATION ON TRANSFORMING OUR SERVICE DELIVERY‏

The Fires & Rescue service have issued the following document around the proposed changes to Fire station cover in Derbyshire .

Dear Sir/Madam

Consultation on Transforming Service Delivery 2022

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service has developed a number of proposals to form a new emergency response model for the provision of fire and rescue services within our county, which proposes to alter the location and number of our fire stations, emergency response vehicles and staffing.

We have also developed proposals to review our service provision in relation to:-

* Home Fire Safety Checks,

* Youth Engagement Schemes,

* Fire Cadets,

* Fire Safety Protection Audits

* Incidents we attend and level of resources we send,

* Recovery of costs by charging you for attending non-statutory incidents or false alarms.

Accordingly, we would very much appreciate your views on our proposals in order to inform our final plans.

The consultation documents and further supporting information can be found on our website at www.derbys-fire.gov.uk where you can also complete the on-line survey. The consultation period is from 1 October 2013 to 23 December 2013.

CAMERON TRIES TO ‘SPIN’ DISASTROUS RESULTS IN AMBER VALLEY

Picture
Mayor Ron Ashton and Deputy Mayor  and  Amber valley  Tory Chair Jack Brown ,who both lost their seats on Thursday night

Following the disastrous loss of both the above Councillors David Cameron is quoted in the Derby Evening Telegraph as saying  "While I'm sorry that Conservative Councillors who worked hard lost their seats; in places like Amber Valley, the heart of England – a part that's actually been Labour for decades, we still have a Conservative council.'

It would appear that the Prime Ministers not content with contributing to Jack Brown's  defeat by visiting his ward before the election but he does not even know the history of Amber valley. It has been Tory controlled for the last 12 years so why spoil a 'bad news' day with the truth

LABOUR JUST FAIL TO TAKE CONTROL BY 2 SEATS

Cllrs Brown,Bowley and Ashton -all who lost seats last night

Last night  was a very successful election night for Labour which  won 10 out of the 16 seats available on what was an humiliating night not only for the BNP, who lost ALL their seats on the Council but also for the Tories who lost not only the Mayor but Deputy Mayor as well.

Despite these successes the Tories remain in control of Amber Valley by just 2 seats.

People power was evident in the Ripley sea which and saw the County Councillor for Ripley and husband of the deputy leader David Bowley defeated by over 500 votes

TORIES STRUGGLING WITH YOUTH CLUB CLOSURE PROPOSALS

Last Night Tory Cabinet members at Amber Valley endorsed the letter written by the Council in response to the ToryCounty Council’s proposals to close/sell off youth centre.

Lets us hope that Amber Valley’s 4 Tory County Councillors ,who are also Borough Councillors – Stuart Bradford,Kevin Parkinson,David Bowley and Peter Makin vote to support the concerns of the Cabinet and Officers at Amber valley. We will see

The Derby Evening Telegraph reports the story as follows and the front page of the Derbyshire Times states

The Youth Centres in Amber Valley faced with closure are

• Aldecar Youth Centre
• Heanor Gate youth Club
• Ironville Youth Club
• Polygon Youth Centre, Alfreton
• Somercotes Youth Centre

 The letter reported elsewhere on this site states amongst other things’..

Whist any additional support provided to the most vulnerable young people and theirfamilies is welcomed; proposals that may lead to the closure of youth clubs and withdrawal of the mobile youth service give cause for concern.

The proposals as they stand are likely to result in the closure of five youth clubs within Amber Valley. The loss of these facilities could lead to an increase in anti social behaviour,as young people whose energies are currently being diverted into positive activities, may instead be likely to congregate on streets and open spaces of an evening.

Youth clubs also play an important part in the social development and personal well being of our young people. The opportunities for influencing lifestyles and providing important health and well being education in an informal ‘young person centred’ environment will be lost with the closures

Officers are concerned that the loss of the youth clubs may give rise to an increase in anti social behaviour in the areas affected and may reduce the opportunities for the social development and general well-being of young people’

MORE TROUBLE FOR DEPUTY MAYORS

Cllr Jack Brown Deputy Mayor of Amber Valley and a Cabinet member has got himself in trouble again.

He has had to submit a retrospective planning application  for a non-illuminated, pole mounted, free standing sign.

‘The sign consists of two boards, supported on poles, joined to form a ‘V’ arrangement. Eachboard measures 2.4 metres by 1.22 metres and are 1.83 metres above ground level’

Cllr Brown used to be the Chair of the Planning Board. If anyone should know the planning guidelines we would have expected he would.

Another example of the incompetence of the Tories on Amber valley
